Educational purpose

Results produced by the calculators on this site are estimates intended for planning and education. They are computed from the density-based scale of the National Motor Freight Classification and from the dimensions and weights you supply. They are not a rate quote, a contract of carriage, or a guarantee of the class your carrier will assign.

The carrier governs

The billable freight class for any shipment is determined by the carrier after its own reweigh, dimensional scan and inspection, and by the NMFC item your carrier applies to the commodity. You remain responsible for the accuracy of the bill of lading and for verifying figures with your carrier before tender.

No warranty

The site is provided on an as-is basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for rate differences, fees, penalties or losses arising from reliance on the outputs of these tools.

Intellectual property

The NMFC classification system is maintained by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association. This site references the publicly documented density-based scale and Item 110 and Item 170 rules in its own words, and provides no reproduction of copyrighted classification content.
